FE39: Investigating Staff Usage Of Email
Author: Sharon Metcalfe, ICT Test Bed Administrator, Bishop Auckland College
Date: 2006
Summary
Sharon investigates the use of email as a communication tool by staff at Bishop Auckland College. Although her findings are inconclusive, she does feel that those who use the email system do gain benefit from it while others fail to check their email regularly because of time constraints.
Action
Sharon sent out a questionnaire to 25 members of staff to gain feedback on their usage of the email system. She received 13 responses and attempted to find out why some of those who didn't respond had failed to do so.
Outcomes
Feedback received was generally very positive, with staff finding email a quick and convenient method of communicating, although one staff member complained of having to wade through large amounts of junk mail. There is however some resistance to the use of email which needs further investigation.
