FE15: Creating materials for low-level English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) students
Author: Kitt Baguley, Curriculum Team Leader for Skills for Life, Barking College, Barking and Dagenham
Date: 2005

The tutor investigated the impact of using supplementary information and learning technologies materials on low-level ESOL students' understanding of grammar and vocabulary. She collected data by giving her students questionnaires, interviewing them and having focus group discussion. The students' feedback indicated that they enjoyed the ICT-based activities and felt that they improved their knowledge during the lesson in which they were used. The focus group stated that they enjoyed using the ICT-based materials more than paper-based ones because they were interesting and provided a different way to learn.
