P49: ICT Test Bed Sustainability: A School Leader's Reflections
Author: Geoff Swinton, Sunnybrow Primary
Date: 2006

Summary

As the ICT Test Bed project nears its end, Geoff reflects on his school's experiences of the use of ICT in learning. He uses feedback from pupil's of different ages to highlight both areas of ICT the pupils have particularly enjoyed, and those areas where it has not been so successful.

Action

Two short questionnaires were devised and adapted for a sample of children in the different key stages. The results are used here to illustrate the children's perceptions of the use of ICT in the school.

Outcomes

The feedback from the pupils shows that they enjoy the use of PCs, laptops and the Interactive Whiteboards in learning, and prefer these to more traditional pen and paper methods. There was some frustration however with technical failures, particularly with the battery life of the laptops, which caused work to be lost on occasions.
